WASHINGTON, May 28, 2026 __ The United States Footwear Manufacturers Association is pleased to welcome as its newest manufacturer member McRae Industries, a leading maker of high-quality Berry Amendment compliant military combat boots with more than half a century of experience in domestic manufacturing.
For more than fifty years, McRae has been a go-to for durable, comfortable, mission-ready footwear for our men and women in uniform and remains a vital participant in a resurgent domestic footwear industry.
“We are thrilled to welcome McRae to USFMA at this critical crossroads for our industry,” said USFMA Executive Director Bill McCann. “McRae’s long track record of meeting and exceeding the military’s requirements, strengthening domestic supply chains, and supporting skilled American jobs will help our growing coalition of manufacturers and suppliers guarantee U.S. troops have what they need for years to come, both in peacetime and in war.”
“Maintaining a strong domestic footwear manufacturing capacity is essential to national security and military readiness” said Donnie Dyer, President of McRae Footwear. “Our membership in USFMA allows us to work closely with industry partners to ensure the United States military can rely on a secure, dependable, and American-based footwear supply chain.”
McRae joins USFMA as the association builds more support for the policies and investments that will expand domestic capacity to produce the yarns, fabrics and fibers that are also essential for national preparedness, including resilient supply chains for personal protective equipment (PPE).
That includes final passage of the bipartisan BOOTS Act to close the loophole in the Berry Amendment that is permitting military personnel to purchase an estimated one million pairs of foreign-made boots annually — including from China — despite the longstanding requirement that all military uniforms and related equipment be made in the USA.
“We must reduce our continued dependence on foreign supply chains that may not be viable in wartime or other global disruptions, as we learned the hard way during the pandemic,” added McCann. “McRae brings a powerful voice and additional manufacturing capacity for the footwear our troops want and can count on.”
